Undefined Beauty

Society’s definition of beauty is not defined; therefore, can true beauty exist? Beauty implies so much and in so many different societies, but what is it? No one can give a definite answer to such questions. So as our society strives to be beautiful it is in turn striving for the impossible, because beauty is not clear to anyone. Only one thing is known about beauty; there are different kinds. These kinds come together to define beauty, but because there are so many different opinions of each type and beauty itself, nothing is ever decided upon.

The most obvious form of beauty is the physical, which many people think is all beauty is. This is the attitude of the majority of the American Society. This is because our society is run by men, yes I am blaming men. This is not a sexist battle, just the honest to God truth. Women enjoy seeing good looking men, sure, they are only human, but they do not base their entire lives around it. Men on the other hand, and I am speaking in generalities there are exceptions to everything, build our society on one thing, sex and their twisted, yet unknown, meaning of physical beauty. This in turn has women thinking their purpose in life is to please a man and it doesn’t need to be. This makes modest, sensible women hard to find as well as good men.

Not many people have respect for themselves anymore and that is how society and its view of beauty has gotten so based upon sex. From a commercial about cookies have their slogan saying, “Naughty can be nice” to women’s magazines filled with pictures of women that might as well be in playboy if they’re going to show that much of their bodies, our society is based upon sex. Everyone is taught in kindergarten to respect each others bodies, keep their hands to themselves, and so on. Somewhere along the line though, hormones kick in and people allow these sexual feelings to control their very life. This is what is wrong with homosexuals. Sure, I don’t agree with the action of homosexuality, but I'm concentraing on the homosexuals themselves and it is plain to see the issue wouldn’t be so exploded if people didn’t allow their sexuality to decide who they are. What people do in the bedroom is their own business, why are there parades about it and talk shows? People like Jerry Springer make money off of sex, probably just as much as porn magazines and such, just in a different way. This is an insult to humans as a whole who don’t have a clue what true beauty is, but it is the humans who our insulting themselves.

Another beauty exists, the beauty of a person and her personality and if all these sex-crazed and confused individuals would open their eyes they would see it. This kind of beauty is far more appealing than any physical appearance or action can bring. This is because this beauty does not stop, it does not ever go away, until the beautiful person dies. This is something instilled inside a person and is almost unexplainable. It may be the way a person talks or thinks. Maybe it is the unselfishness that so few people have or maybe it is the beauty of the soul itself. I am not quite, but one thing is for certain, physical beauty will never compare to it.

Beauty, what is it to you? Don’t let it be what you see in the mirror. Let it be what you feel inside and how you treat others. A great way to tell if you are beautiful is how you feel about the corruption of today’s society. Does it make you sad? Do you wish there was something you could do? This is a trait of beauty I am sure, but there is so much more and only you can decide that, because no one knows what the definition of beauty is, only that there are different kinds, all perceived by people like yourself.
